Mary Ann McKinlay (1834 – 1891)

Mary Ann McKinlay was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland.

Sadly she hanged herself while her family were in Central Otago attending a family funeral. (d. cert. Verdict of the Jury: Killed herself by hanging while temporarily insane).

Her parents were Robert Cumming of Castle Douglas and Elizabeth (Betty) Dreghorn. Neither came to New Zealand.

She had 12 children to William, 5 of whom died in Scotland. The youngest, Margaret, was born here and the rest also came to New Zealand in 1875 and 1876.
