John Johnston Arthur came from the Shotts,Scotland with three sons; William(Sept 1856?), Alexander(1858) and John(?). His wife was Isabella Arthur (nee Taylor)

They arrived in New Zealand on 7 September 1861 on the ship “Pladda” amongst 369 immigrants on that voyage. (Ref: Passenger List at Early Settlers Museum p80)

He died at the age of 52 yrears of Heart Failure
