Peter McArthur Peter McArthur was the ninth of ten children of Duncan McArthur and Ann, nee Massie. He was born and baptised as Patrick, at Laurencekirk, Kincardineshire, in 1847, but known as Peter in New Zealand. He worked as a Carpenter and owned section 28 in the township of Woodhaugh. Peter married Helen Paterson on 1 January 1875 in his fathers house in Union Street, Dunedin. Peter died , aged 37 years, of cardiac valvular disease on 23 July 1884, and was buried 26 July. (Presbyterian) Peter left his land to his wife Helen, who later married James Fairbairn, a steward of Dunedin, at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. |
