Elizabeth Ann Gallichan, née Hellyer, was the daughter of Elizabeth and Robert Hellyer. She married Joshua Gallichan. She was one of two married daughters of the Hellyers who came to Dunedin in 1875 with their husbands and children – the Gallichans and the Shapcotts – together with Elizabeth’s parents, travelling on the Waimea as assisted immigrants.

Sadly, both Elizabeth and her husband died within eight years of their arrival in Dunedin. Elizabeth Gallichan died on 18th September 1881, aged 43 years. She is buried here in the cemetery with her husband and some of their children.
