Born in Dunedin 10 October 1877. A twin. Single. Eldest daughter of Thomas & Isabella Whitson. She was “eccentric, absent-minded, fiercely independent with a heart as big as she was”. She developed diabetes – but saw no sense in being miserable on her prescribed diet, so it was not unusual to find little caches of forbitten cream cakes, hidden about ‘Rosebank’.
