Duncan McArthur (1801 – 1879)

Duncan McArthur was born in Moulin, Perthshire, Scotland. He was the forth of eleven of Duncan McArthur Snr. , Dyer, and Isabel Fergusen .

Duncan jnr. married Ann Massie at Laurencekirk, Kincardineshire in 1830, and they had ten children. Duncan was a gamekeeper in Scotland, and it is possible that Duncan and Anne came to New Zealand in time for the marriage of their ninth son, Peter.

Duncan worked as a labourer and lived at Woodhaugh for five years before his death of old age and heart disease on 28 May 1879.
