Charles Grater (c.1865-1947)

Charles Grater, an accountant, was the Maori Hill Borough Town Clerk from 1893-1915 and was the original clerk to the Maori Hill School Committee, a position he occupied for many years. In recognition of his contribution to local life Grater Street was named in his honour. A keen bowler with the Balmacewen Bowling Club, he died in February 1947 aged 82.
