Ivy Maretta McDougall (née Smith) 1907-1937 When she was young Ivy, who was known as "Ninie", suffered from rheumatic fever. In consequence her heart was weakened, and this caused her early death at the age of thirty. At the time of her death, she was living in Wellington with her husband Robert A. McDougall and their three-year-old daughter Jennifer Mary. Robert McDougall worked for the railways in the District Engineer’s office; he married again after the Second World War. After her mother’s death, Jennifer Mary was brought to Dunedin to be raised by her grandparents, aunts and uncles. Her married name was Dowdall. In the same plot are buried two baby sisters of Ivy who died when she was about three. Edna, a newborn baby, died in January 1910 and was buried on 24 January. Olive, also a newborn baby, died in December 1910 and was buried on 19 December. — Other burials recorded at the same site: |
