George Easton 1847 – 1926

George Easton was born 1847 in Winchelsea, Sussex, England. In 1867 George married Harriet Turner at St Nicholas’ Church , Brighton Sussex on 19 April.

With their two children, George aged 6 and Alice aged 5, George and Harriet sailed from London on the 23rd May 1874 aboard the ‘Corona’. They arrived in Port Chalmers, Dunedin on the 28th August that same year.George was 27 years and Harriet 29

The family settled in central Dunedin in St Andrews Street and owned a confectionary shop.

George died aged 79 years in 1926, he is buried here with his wife Harriet. Their daughter, Agnes Mary Thomson, nee Easton is also buried at the Northern Cemetery, plot 31, block 136
