Helen Boyd Brown 1851–1917

Helen, born at Grangemouth, Scotland, in 1851 to Helen Graham, the wife of a merchant seaman, emigrated to Dunedin, New Zealand, with her mother and two children of her mother’s second marriage circa 1874. In 1876 Helen Boyd Graham and William Brown were married in Dunedin; they were to have seven children. Helen died of cancer of the bowel and lung congestion in 1917.

Five of her children are also buried in the Northern Cemetery: William Graham d. 1879, Andrew Aitken d. 1889, Helen Graham d. 1956, Ann White d. 1961, and Andrew d. 1963. Ann White Brown, born circa 1881, was also known as Nan; her married name was Sheenan.
