William Barron Manley was born 5 May 1839 at St Blazey, Cornwall. He was married to Caroline(nee Bulloch) and she was born on 2 Dec 1835. Their first son was Francis Joseph Manley who was born in 1860 at St Blazey also (He died in Dunedin when he was only 18 months old). The family arrived in Dunedin on 26 November 1861 sailing on the “Derwent Water”. Their first daughter was Minnie Manley, born in Dunedin on 18 Jan 1868 and their son, Joseph Henry was born also in Dunedin 20 Aug 1863. Their adapted child, Emily Augusta Lucretia Manley, is also buried in the Northern Cemetery. William was an ashphalt and drainage contractor and lived and worked from 586 Castle St, Dunedin. |
