Clara Elizabeth Marsden was born 24th August 1873 at sea in the Roaring Forties on the clipper ship ‘Peter Denny’. She was the first born child of William and Rachel Marsden,nee Lee.

Clara was Christened at St Paul’s Cathedral, Dunedin, on the 10th of December 1873 when her parents were living at Filleul St. She died 18th January 1874 in Dunedin and the cause of her death was given as Diarrhoea 6 days. The Informant was her father.
