Harriet Easton (nee Turner)

Harriet was born 4th August 1844 in Hamsey, Sussex, England. She married George Easton on 19th April 1867 at St Nicholas Church, Brighton, Sussex.

The couple left London for New Zealand on board the ‘ Corona’, 23rd May 1874 and arrived at Port Chalmers, Dunedin on 28 August that year. Sailing with them were their two children George, aged 6 and Alice aged 5.

The family settled in central Dunedin, St Andrews Street and owned a confectionary shop

Harriet died aged 62 years on the 14th Feb. 1907. She is buried here with her husband George, their daughter Agnes Mary Thomson, nee Easton is also buried at the Northern Cemetery in block 136 – plot 31
