Herbert Flinders 26 September 1840 – 2 December 1906

Herbert Flinders carpenter, joiner, and railway carriage builder was born 26 Sep 1840 at Stenson near Repton, Derbyshire, England. He married Elizabeth MORLEDGE on 9 Jul 1859, in Congregational Chapel, London Rd. Derby, England.

Herbert and Elizabeth had five children in England and immigrated to New Zealand with the four youngest, Catherine, Alfred, Sarah and Edith in 1874 on the Christian McAusland, arriving Dunedin in October that year. Their last child, Herbert Charles, was born in Dunedin.

Elizabeth died in 1918 and is buried at the Linwood Cemetery, Christchurch.
