Roger Kerkham was a son of the Rev. R.A. Kerkham, formerly vicar of St. John’s, Roslyn. He was a clerk in the National Insurance Company’s office, and a senior subaltern in the Dunedin City Rifles. He died as a result of injuries suffered while diving at the St.Clair Baths on 14th December 1902. He struck his head on the bottom of the baths, injuring his spine, and despite being taken to Dunedin Hospital he died later in the day.
