George Fox was born on 13 October 1833 at Thoydon Garnor, Essex, England. His parents were Benjamin and Mary Fox of Thoydon Garnor. He was a labourer. His marriage to Mary White from Moreton Essex, England, took place 22 October 1856 in North Adelaide. The couple had 10 children between 1857 and 1878 and moved to Dunedin about 1864. He died on 7 May 1905 at 683a Castle St, Dunedin.
