The wrought iron work around some of the burial plots is very intricate and ornate.   Although some individual blacksmiths may have done the work most construction seems to have come from Dunedin engineering firms like J. W. Faulkner Ltd. and from A.& T. Burt Ltd.

A & T Burt was a plumbing and engineering firm established in 1862 that received a tremendous impetus from the Otago gold-rushes.  It subsequently set up branches throughout New Zealand.  The firm's Head Office was originally in Dunedin and shifted to Wellington in 1970.
